Centerboard Problems

We attempted to launch our newly acquired 1977 DSII and much to our dismay, the boat would not come off the trailer. Apparently the centerboard dropped down and jammed against the rear crossbar on the trailer. The CB uphaul was pulled tight but I could not lift the CB. Finally in frustration I pulled the trailer out and crawled under and pushed the CB up with my hand. While on the trailer the centerboard is held up by the center keel roller as far as I can tell. Does anyone have any idea how to repair this? Picture would be great so I could see how this should be set up.

I "launched" my DS2 in the backyard and then using the main halyard pulled the hull over on its side. I put a mark on the centerboard truck with the centerboard all the way up, and then a mark indicating the CB all the way down. I just drew an arrow pointing to the end of the compression fitting on the "up" cable and the same for the down cable. Now I can tell exactly how far the board is up or down.

After I tightened the centerboard pin, to stop a troublesome leak, I decided to change the "up" cable purchase from 2::1 to 4::1. So now I can get enough power on the centerboard to get it all the way up and not catch on the trailer, and further I know it is up all the way because I marked the spot.

Well I pulled the CB out this morning and found the cause of my centerboard problem- the uphaul cable had come lose. As a matter of fact, the tang was just about completely rusted away. Much to my surprise a previous owner had fabricated a repair using galvanized sheet metal and plastic clad cable.
