need stay help, need hardware source

last August my mast fell over while the boat was moored. the PO had screwed the mast to the step casting so that got broken and the tabernachle plate was bent. I got new parts but I am in need of the tappered adjuster nut that threads onto the end of the sidestay inside the turnbuckle. I cannot locate this nut locally, local sail shop says my system is old school. West Marine does not have the nut. I am not sure if my stays are 1/8" or 5/32"

the boat was given to me as a tip last summer while i was bartending, it is in excellent shape and I really want it back in the water.

i think upon stepping the mast, I am not going to drill screws into the new casting, is this a good idea? just slip it into the mast end and step the mast, connect stays and go sail? or should I attach it with srews or rivets?
thanks

my turnbuckle setup looks kind of like this lifeline adjuster:

I can post actual pics if needed. just looking for the 1 tappered nut. mine is in the lake somewhere. anyone have any old spare parts or this nut?

thanks again for the helps

I have some of these, how many do you need? Send a PM and we can figure out shipping etc...

Also,

I think the mast should be riveted to the step casting, and the casting bolted to the tabernacle.
If you leave it on a mooring for the season (in other words set up the mast once per year) you could eliminate the tabernacle. I have a solid aluminum block that I was going to use to do this to my old Javelin (which I don't have anymore) that I made for this purpose.

This just means you might want to have a friend help step the mast. I've done it alone with my tapered DS mast, but it is tough.

You can have it if you want. The step castings are new and could be bought for whatever D&R Marine charges.

Is your boat on one of the bays or a local lake?

My folks are still up in Traverse (I grew up there) and I trailer up from Kzoo and sail in the area.

Would you be interested in hooking up and sailing sometime?

Greg,

I moore the boat in North Lake Leelanau, just outside the Leland river, shoot me an email when you come up again, sailing sounds like a great idea.
